We’re Renewing Bergstadens Hotel
In 2022, significant parts of Bergstadens Hotel underwent a comprehensive transformation, and we are now delighted to unveil a brand new lobby & cocktail bar, as well as a lobby area with its own dining lounge and library. Architect Simon Bartley designed the new spaces, and the result is fantastic, with a truly unique atmosphere. Here, as a guest, you can relax with a good book by the fireplace or enjoy a glass with good friends. Additionally, a brand new SPA department in the basement will be ready during late summer/early fall 2023.
RESTAURANT 1897
Today’s hotel restaurant is undergoing a complete transformation into an à la carte restaurant.
Here, you will be able to enjoy everything from a delightful fresh breakfast to fantastic 5-course dinners, all made with local ingredients. The name of the restaurant originates from when the main part of the hotel was completed; 1897.
We aim to focus on the environment, aiming to reduce food waste and prioritize local ingredients in our new concepts at the hotel. To achieve this, we have partnered with TotalCTRL, a kitchen and food inventory management system. Together with TotalCTRL, we have initiated a project with ATEA to track food items from the producer to the guest. This is a comprehensive project that aims to provide us with better oversight and food safety, but more importantly, to offer an additional tool for guests. Being able to see where the food comes from, its travel distance, and its CO2 footprint is something more and more people are concerned about. We aim to be at the forefront of this technology and provide our guests with better insights into what they are eating.
We have all become accustomed to buffets in hotels, which is anything but positive for the environment.
We want to be part of changing this trend, which is why we are removing the classic buffet even for breakfast. We believe that fresh ingredients prepared to order are a much better alternative for both guests and the environment. If we are all a little more conscious about what we eat and where our food comes from, we can collectively contribute positively to the environment.
THE HOTEL’S LOBBY AND MALM WINE BAR
We are excited to expand our offerings in the hotel lobby. Here, we will introduce a dedicated dining lounge, Malm Wine Bar, where guests can enjoy a fine glass of wine and some accompaniments. Additionally, there will be ample seating where guests can simply relax and enjoy the atmosphere. We will also provide a workstation for those who need to catch up on some work. You don’t need to be a guest at the hotel to enjoy this wonderful space. Why not take a seat, grab a coffee, and observe the activity around you?
GRUVA AND THE LOBBYBAR
I the good old Nilsen Corner bar, we aim to preserve much of the current atmosphere. This is a classic and splendid English bar that will receive a facelift with new colors. This is the hotel’s “lobby bar,” but it won’t prevent guests from sitting in the lobby and enjoying a good drink. A bit further in, the new bar will take place, Gruva. This space used to be a nightclub but will now be completely transformed into a versatile bar where you can either host a private event or drop by on Fridays and Saturdays. Here, we can arrange everything from wedding parties, birthdays, music events, to simply a place to enjoy great drinks. Gruva will focus on offering a diverse drink menu and excellent service.
Between Gruva and the reception area, a library is being constructed. Here, guests will have the opportunity to retreat and read a good book by the fireplace or simply sit back and relax. The choice is yours!
BERGSTADEN SPA – During the summer, Bergstaden SPA will also be ready.:
